Lagos- Fire on Wednesday destroyed properties worth millions of naira at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) office on Burma Road in Apapa, Lagos.

The fire broke out at the second floor of the nine-storey building at about 11:05 am.

The cause of the fire, which affected the Servicom and Cabotage departments, was not immediately known.

Hajia Lami Tumaka, NIMASA Deputy Director (Public Relations), said that immediately the fire was noticed, the management alerted the fire fighters who promptly responded and put it off.

“I don’t know what really happened, but investigations are on going to find out the cause of the fire.

“The good thing is that no life was lost.

“We are not looking at the losses, instead the management is happy that all members of staff are alive and safe,” Tumaka said.

She said that the management had directed all NIMASA staff and Access Bank staff occupying the building to go home and resume tomorrow. (NAN)
