Women in the FCT, Abuja that have bust cancer could heave a sigh of alleviation abiding by the setup of a mammogram machine at the Maitama General Medical center.
The Sec. of health and human services, Doctor Demola Onakomaiya, who unveiled the machine along with the Ear, Nose and Throat/Radiology Department in the healthcare facility, stated that breast cancer continued to be the most typical cancer found amongst ladies.
As he put it:
“It is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in women in sub-Saharan Africa. The mammography machine enables early detection and treatment of breast cancer thereby reducing the burden of the disease
“It should be noted that early detection of the disease is the cornerstone of breast cancer control. When detected early and with adequate diagnosis and treatment, there is a good chance that breast cancer can be cured.”
